Arthur E. Wenige was more than a Queens Mason. Raised in Advance Lodge in 1903, he helped shape the lodge-room design that appears to have carried from Astoria to Hillside and Bayside, leaving a shared Masonic interior across three lodges

Founded at the end of the Civil War, Island City Lodge No. 586 grew with Long Island City itself. Its Jackson Avenue Masonic Temple stood at the center of neighborhood life and later served not only the craft, but the city around it.
